How to play Queens
The board is split into coloured regions. Place exactly one crown in:
- every row,
- every column, and
- every colour region.
Two crowns can never touch each other — not even diagonally.
Controls
- Tap a square once to mark it with ×, tap again to place a crown, a third time to clear it.
- Drag across empty squares to mark many × at once.
- Keyboard: arrow keys to move, Q for a crown, X for a mark, Space to cycle.
Tips to solve faster
- Start with the smallest region. If a region sits entirely inside one row or column, no other region can use that line.
- When a crown is placed, mark × on its whole row, column, region and the 8 squares around it.
- If two regions fit only inside the same two columns, those two columns are “taken” — clear them everywhere else.
- Every puzzle has exactly one solution, so you never need to guess.

Why can’t two crowns touch?
That rule (no touching, even at the corners) is what makes the puzzle solvable by logic. It also means a crown removes up to 8 neighbouring squares at once.
